Hornady Stretches the A-Tip Line: 120-Grain 6mm and 177-Grain .308 Join the Match Bullet Roster

Hornady has added two new bullet weight options to its A-Tip match projectile line, giving precision reloaders fresh options at both ends of the popular spectrum. The headline act is a 120-grain 6mm A-Tip with a published G1 ballistic coefficient of .675 — an exceptional number for that diameter.

That 120-grain 6mm is on the heavy side for smaller cartridges like the 6mm ARC, but it should be hard to beat in 6mm GT or Dasher-type cartridges where the case capacity can push it properly. On the .30-caliber side, a new 177-grain .308 A-Tip replaces the 176-grain option in the lineup.

One house rule carries over to the new weights: all A-Tip projectiles require the special seating stem to avoid damaging the sleek bullets during loading. If you load A-Tips, the stem is not optional equipment — it is the price of admission for bullets this long and this sharp.
