Woodford Reserve Master's Collection No. 22: Super Seasoned Oak

Woodford Reserve has released Master's Collection No. 22, dubbed Super Seasoned Oak — the 22nd installment of the brand's experimental series. The release is a 9-year-old bourbon aged in barrels whose staves were seasoned outdoors for five to seven years (the heads for seven), against the up-to-about-a-year seasoning typical of traditional barrels. It bottles at 100.4 proof.

Availability is deliberately tight: MSRP is $179.99 per 700mL bottle, with limited quantities at the Versailles, Kentucky distillery and select Kentucky retailers starting September 3, plus online sales at shop.woodfordreserve.com shipping to Kentucky, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Nebraska, and Washington, D.C.

Master distiller Elizabeth McCall put the thesis in one line: "With Super Seasoned Oak, we showcase how extended outdoor wood exposure and precise barrel craftsmanship can elevate the spirit…" The wood is the experiment here; everything else follows from it.

The barrels came from the Brown-Forman cooperage in Louisville before it closed in April 2025 — a quiet piece of industry history in every bottle. And for market watchers: Woodford Reserve is a Brown-Forman brand, and we track BFB on the FreedomWire Markets board.

The comments section almost never has anything this reasonable going on. Cheers.
